I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the SISTER SABOTAGE by Colleen Oakes Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. Check out my post and make sure to enter the giveaway!

For fans of Sisters and Netflix’s The Baby-sitter’s Club, a contemporary series for the siblings who always come in last.

Santana Barnes is tired of playing second fiddle to her ballet protégé, honor student older sister Victoria. Casey Hammond is sick of her cute-as-a-button, adventurous little sister Sage, who steals all of their dad’s attention.

When the girls meet in their middle school library, they learn they have a lot in common: they both love reading, they hate after-school activities, and most important, they are clearly their parents’ second-favorite children.

So they decide to do something about it. They create the Second Favorite Daughters Club. The members? Just the two of them. The mission? To become their parents’ favorite children by undermining their love-hoarding siblings. But is it possible to cheat your way to becoming your parents’ favorite? And is being in the spotlight really what they want after all?

Bestselling author Colleen Oakes’s middle grade debut, SISTER SABOTAGE is a celebration of friendship and family in all its challenging forms, and a reminder that there’s no one way to stand out.

*Review*

The Second Favorite Daughters Club: Sister Sabotage was a wicked cute read.

Written in dual POV between quick bestfriends, Santana and Casey, it’s a fun and emotional ride.

The two bond over a mutual love of certain book series, similar in ways but oh so different as well.

Casey is a more serious and nervous. A perfectionist at times, everything has a purpose and a place.

Santana is wild Ember, lighting fires with every step she takes. Wild and uncontainable.

Though, both girls feel second best for their parents affection and devise a plan to sabotage their perfect siblings.

Casey’s family story is sad. Her flighty mom that you can’t help but be angry with and pity at the same time, and their single dad who has no idea what to do with two daughters, especially two that are so different. Casey’s sister Sage, one of my favorite characters, was so cute and also had a rough go, even if it wasn’t always painted that way.

It was apparent Casey had a lot off abandonment issues, stemming from her mother, but also from not bonding with her father. She is a very kind person, and never wanted to hurt her family. I’m glad things ended the way the did for her.

Santana, on one hand, has an upsetting story as well, but she is looking more for revenge.

Her sister Victoria is perfect. She is athletic and super smart and always hogging all of their parents’ time, making Santana often feel overlooked.

There are times in the story when her parents say things that tell the reader they love their youngest daughter, but with Victoria’s shadow and constant needs, it’s easy to see why Santana feels the way she does.

I loved the emotions that each girl was able to feel. Casey’s father makes it a point tell her that her feelings are validated, she’s allowed to feel what she does.

The emotions are raw and real. It’s a common issue in families with multiple children, especially with other outside factors.

Oakes handles the delicacies of her story well, giving each girl a well thought-out backstory, motivation, and goals.

Both Casey and Santana acted like twelve year old girls. It’s refreshing when character in a story act/feel like they are supposed to.

I really enjoyed this story. It is a perfect read for Second Favorite Daughters of any age.

I rated Sister Sabotage four point five stars rounds up to five.
